Google has launched a new and powerful AI video generator Flow at its annual developers conference Google I/O 2025. It is specifically designed for filmmaking and creative video production. Flow brings together Google's advanced AI models Veo, Imagen and Gemini on one platform, allowing creators to create cinema-level scenes without the need for a large team and tools. Google says Flow is designed "by creatives and for creatives" and is currently being used by a select number of filmmakers to see how AI can transform video production.

Early adopters of Flow include Dave Clark, who used Flow to create his short film Freelancers, the story of two separated adopted brothers. Apart from this, there is Henry Dobrez, who gives a new creative direction by combining tech and art, he created Kitsune with the help of Veo 2 and is now working on Electric Pink. Junie Lau, who is into digital narratives, used Flow to start working on Dear Stranger, a love story that spans parallel worlds.

- Users can start with text descriptions or create shots based on existing visuals.
- Users can upload characters, objects, and scene references so that visuals are consistent from clip to clip.
- Still images from one scene can be used as the basis for the next clip.
Scenebuilder and camera controls : -
A key feature of Flow is Scenebuilder, which allows users to edit and expand their shots intuitively. This ensures natural transitions and smooth action. Also, Flow has options to control camera angle, motion, and perspective, putting creative control in the hands of the user.
Project management and Flow TV : -
Flow includes tools for organizing assets and prompts to manage larger projects. Google also offers a showcase platform called Flow TV, where videos created with Flow can be viewed, along with a look at what prompts and effects were used.
Availability and subscription : -
- Flow is currently available to customers on Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in the US.
- Pro plan: 100 generations per month and access to core features.
- Ultra plan: More generation limits and early access to Veo 3, which includes environmental sounds and character dialogue.
