Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has launched a new feature, which allows users to now connect with each other directly in group chats through live voice chat. The biggest advantage of this feature is that now all the members of the group can talk without leaving the group or switching to a different voice call. Earlier this feature was available only for large groups, but now it has been released for all group chats.
Special features of WhatsApp voice chat : -
Now available in all groups: Voice chat will now work in all groups, small and large.
How to start : - Go to the bottom of the group chat and swipe up until the "Swipe up to chat" message appears. Holding for a few seconds will give the option of "Release to talk" and then "Connect", which will start the voice chat.
Join without notification: On starting a voice chat, no ring or notification is sent to other members of the group. Any member can join or leave the voice chat as per their wish.
Pinned to chat window: This voice chat remains pinned at the bottom for easy access to call controls.
End-to-end encryption: Like individual calls and messages, voice chats are fully end-to-end encrypted. WhatsApp claims that even WhatsApp cannot see the content of the chat or voice chat.
The feature is currently live on both Android and iOS platforms, though it is slowly rolling out to all users, so wait a bit if you don't see the feature right away.
