There are many beautiful lakes around the world. Many of them are also very dangerous and mysterious. Even scientists have not been able to find out the secret of these lakes yet. Kawah Ijen lake of Indonesia is also one of these lakes. It is the most acidic lake in the world. The water temperature of this lake usually remains around 34 degrees Celsius. Sometimes the temperature reaches 120 degrees Celsius. Its water starts shining like turquoise stone at night.
Earthquakes often occur in Indonesia. Due to this, incidents of volcanic eruption keep happening. This area located along the Pacific Ocean is considered the most dangerous land area in the world. It is also called the Ring of Fire. 75 percent of the world's total active volcanoes are in Indonesia. The name of one of these volcanoes is Kawah Ijen. There is a mysterious lake named after it which is located near the volcano.
It is believed that the Kawah Ijen lake is the most acidic lake in the world and its water keeps boiling continuously. Due to this, no one lives around the lake. Satellite images of this lake have been released several times in which the water of the lake appears like blue-green light at night. Due to this, people's attraction towards the lake increased.
The lake is so dangerous that even the scientists themselves do not dare to stay around it for long. After several years of research, the scientists discovered this turquoise color. This active volcano is continuously boiling due to which several types of gases such as hydrogen chloride, sulphuric dioxide come out. When these gases mix with each other, a reaction takes place which results in a blue color. This blue color is of the smoke coming out of the volcano as well as of the water of the lake.
To test the acidity of the lake, scientists put a thick aluminium sheet in the acidic water of the lake for about 20 minutes. When the thick sheet was taken out, the thickness of the sheet was as much as a transparent cloth.
Due to the possibility of the volcano erupting anytime, the Indonesian government had issued a warning in the surrounding area. No one has reached here since 2012, but the water of this lake has been in constant discussion. However, there are still many mysteries related to this lake which have not been discovered yet.
